How is an article to be submitted? [Top]
Manuscripts should be submitted either directly via the Review’s website (strongly recommended) here or as an email attachment in any open-source word processing and spreadsheet or MS Word and Excel format. The Review also invites submissions in other media – photographic, audio, and video material, for instance – in its fields of interest. Manuscripts and other material not uploaded directly should be emailed to coordinator@ras.org.in.
What types of articles are accepted? [Top]
Review of Agrarian Studies invites articles on a wide range of subjects in the field of agrarian studies. The academic disciplines covered include economics, sociology, political science, geography, history, and literature and music studies. By way of illustration, the journal carries articles on the forces and relations of production in agriculture and in rural areas, different aspects of social formations in the countryside, rural development, political developments associated with the countryside, literary work, rural music, and agrarian history. Articles present original arguments and analyses, both theoretical and empirical. Articles may be submitted for publication in different sections of the journal, including the research article, research and statistical notes, book review, field report, interview, and agrarian novels series sections.

Are there any associated publishing fees? [Top]
There is no publication fee or charge for submitting, publishing, or accessing the online version of articles. All RAS articles are freely accessible online.
How long does it take for a submission to be published? [Top]
Submissions that pass an initial screening by the editors will be sent for peer review. The date of publication will depend on the length of the peer review and revision processes. Authors will be notified within 10 days if their submissions do not pass the initial screening.
What is an acceptable word count for a submission? [Top]
There are no strict limits in this regard. For research articles, 5,000 to 10,000 words may be a good target to aim for.
When are the online and print versions available? [Top]
The Review publishes online first and aggregates online content into a print edition every six months.
